We at iCookbook are excited to be part of the launch of HP’s TouchPad! Our Developers, Account Managers, Editors, Graphic Designers, and Technical Gurus have been working around the clock with the wonderful people at HP to create a version of iCookbook for HP’s webOS.

iCookbook for webOS is similar to iCookbook for the iPad, but takes advantage of some of the TouchPad’s unique features. For example, the enhanced navigation methods allowed us to create a multi-panel view in the “Prepare” mode, making accessing information much easier and more intuitive. We’ve also worked with HP to make sure every recipe can be emailed from within the app, or printed with an HP Wi-Fi enabled printer.

The $4.99 app includes more than 2,000 recipes from some of the top food brands in the world, so finding the ingredients is easy. And since every recipe has been kitchen tested, you can expect great results every time. Finding the app is simple as well. Just look for iCookbook in the FOOD section of the HP webOS App Catalog, or you can follow the link on the homepage of iCookbook.com.

As is often the case, Father’s Day this year will fall in the middle of our annual summer vacation.

Father’s Day and Mother’s Day are very different at my house. For her day, Mom gets breakfast in bed and a nice dinner courtesy of the head cook of the household and my two assistants without having to cook or clean up. Father’s Day, on the other hand, usually consists of a moment seized at an airport to recognize dear old Dad with a card.

This year, Father’s Day is the second day of our vacation. We’re sharing a rental house with family and friends. I’m going to bring along my iPad and see what happens if I casually leave it open to iCookbook’s free Father’s Day Collection and drop some subtle hints. With any luck I’ll get at least half the Mother’s Day treatment and there will be some Chipotle Orange BBQ Drumsticks and maybe some Sweet Potato Fries in my future… and little to no dishwashing.

One of the key things about Mother’s Day for me as a kid was that it was Dad’s night to cook dinner. Mother’s Day meals were strictly low-fuss: spaghetti and meatballs, or barbecued chicken breasts and a fresh green salad.

Now that I’m married with a family of my own, Mother’s Day dinner is still Dad’s responsibility. (That’s me.) But since this year we’re road-tripping out of state to spend Mother’s Day with my folks, Mother’s Day dinner may have to wait until sometime next week.

A delayed holiday dinner ups the ante yet again, so I’ll need something special enough to make up for a 3-day, 900-mile road trip but speedy enough to put together on a weeknight. My wife loves seafood, and since it’s finally nice enough outside to grill, I’m looking at this grilled swordfish recipe from iCookbook’s May free recipe collection (you have downloaded your May collection, right?).

It’s just right for spring—fresh-tasting, not fussy, and just enough out of the ordinary to make a weeknight feel as special as Mother’s Day. I’ll put in the fridge to marinate while I’m feeding the kids and putting them to bed. Then, once we’re alone, it’s just a few minutes on the grill or under the broiler and we’re ready to eat.

However (and whenever) you plan to celebrate Mother’s Day, I hope you’ll take the time to share a special meal with all the mothers and all the special people in your life.
